January is National Mentoring Month!  There is a young person in our community who can really benefit from spending time with you.  It just takes a few hours a month, a wililng heart and a listening ear to be a mentor.  You can help a young person achieve high self-esteem, believe in themselves and confidently pursue their dreams.  Let a young person know that you care by signing up to mentor today!

The Wall Street Journal wrote us up!   In an article on how low-income Washingtonians view President Obama's election, our message of hope and high expectations, as delivered by LS staff to the children we work with at Kelly Miller Middle School, was cited.  See "A D.C. Neighborhood, A World Away" by Gary Fields, January 20, 2009.  

We Got A Shout-Out from DC Examiner Youth Reporter Aisha Ali!   Aisha noted that DC Schools can use more programs like ours in her column in the December 18, 2008 issue.  

LIfeSTARTS Learning Loop Tutor Awarded Full Scholarship to GWU!   Read all about how -- thanks to his own hard work and LifeSTARTS' partnership with George Washington University -- H.D.
